Excellent staff, excelent dives, great boat! I cannot imagine having a better experience. I'll be back next year! We were able to go on two drift dives today because the lovely first mate, Bianca, was on board. As usual, Toby was able to find all the critters, eels, sharks, frog fish and 5 Hawaiian Lionfishes at Red Hill. Wow!! Jim was patient, professional and a pleasure to be with. We had a great time thanks to all of the fine people at Scuba Shack, from the owner Charlie to Toby and Bianca. We feel like we found the best dive operation right off the bat and will definately be back next year. Our local dive instructor recommended Maui Scuba Shack and the recommendation was right on target. This would be our first choice even if they didn't have the best / fastest dive boat on the island. Awesome at finding critters and making each dive one to remember – seeing the mantas and turtles was the highlight for our daughter. Capt Charlie was entertaining and his brand new FAST boat....WOW!! Capt Charlie gave the competition a 5 minute head start to Molokini Crater and the DUSTED them arriving 5 minutes BEFORE them!! What a ride!! Getting there first meant the best dive sites. We recommend the Drift Dive along En'e Nu'e.....the sharks were awesome!! We dove two days with Capt Charlie and it was worth it. Toby was our Divemaster and I highly recommend going out with him (but you won't go wrong with any of Capt Charlie's crew). First Mate Bianca was a first-rate hostess as well. Diving in itself is fun, but couple it with Charley, Toby, and Jim and you have a whole new level of fun. My wife and I dove the last week of May 2008 and wish we would have dove all 10 days of our trip instead of just 3. Also we stayed at a bed and breakfast but wish we would have seen Charley\'s guest house first. It is AWESOME. We saw everything from sharks, baraccuda,spotted ray, manta ray,all kinds of eels,octopus,etc,etc.Oh yeh, turtles,turtles, and more turtles. We even saw spinner dolphins. Toby has the wonderful ability to find the smallest critters like ghost shrimp. Toby, I'll dive with you next time we come to the islands! The service is first class. They even rinse your gear in fresh water at the end of the dive day so you don't have to do it at your hotel. Charlie's rocket ship boat is immaculate and very quick. All of the crew are professional, likeable,amd fun. Charley and his superior crew on the web. Best find of the trip, the guides are the best anywhere. You know the dive sites in Maui are FANTASTIC, but what you can't know until you dive with these guys are all of the little things they do to make the trips better. They do the gear work, defog your masks, bring breakfast and between dive snacks, find the best sites for that day's weather, they spot critters during the dive and rides to and fro, they even lay your shoes out on the dock when you get off the boat. And oh yeah, the boat, I haven't even talked about the Double Scoop yet. You have to ride this boat! Best dive boat you will find, period. Charley and crew (Greg and Toby so far) run a world class operation here from start to finish, and they pay attention to all of the details to make your trip the best. Because of our certification level and diving experience Jim took us to some difficult spots on the back wall of Molokini Crater and they were totally awesome. The chosen dive site was awesome and they did a great job accommodating my snorkeler. The boat is the fastest and easiest to board following the dive. Toby the divemaster showed me things I never would have seen, ie Leaf Scorpionfish, Frogfish, and the cleaner shrimp that did a great job cleaning my own whiskers. I was a divemaster on the Aggressor and worked for other dive operators and Toby was by far one of the best. Charley and his lovely Snorkel/Bubble watcher/Drift dive look-out Bianca was equally friendly and pofessional. This is a top-notch operation and one I will use in the future for any dives I do out of MAUI. We originally booked 5 days of diving with Scuba Shack and by the time we left we ended up with a total of 8 days making that 16 dives for us. My wife and I took the intro dive to Molokini and Turtle Town. Jay was our dive guide and did a wonderful job. We saw a 5ft white tip shark, but most amazing was the watching the coral bloom. Charlie runs a great business, has a great boat, and is a great host. We dove Molokini first and then Turtle town. This was our first experience scuba diving and the bar was definitely set high. Captain Charlie not only captained the nicest scuba boat on the water but was also extremely knowledgeable about anything and everything pertaining to scuba. Our instructor Jim was also very knowledgeable, accommodating above as well as under water, and knew all the right places to search for marine life. Don’t go on this trip expecting just expecting an underwater experience because Captain Charlie and his crew will keep you entertained between dives as well. Their great reputation was confirmed by the fact that most of the divers on board with us were repeat customers. My snorkeling friends and I had a great time with Captain Valerie...even though a couple of us were throwing up over the side of the boat from being seasick! She made sure we were okay and was very encouraging. My diving friends had an amazing time with Charley and Greg. I think I'll get certified so I can dive with them next time! This is how a dive shop should be run! These folks know how to treat people and, subsequently, keep them coming back. When we were all but stranded on the Kihei boat ramp with apparently no reservation with any of the boats there, Scuba Shack kindly took us in for the day (AND it happened to be cheaper than our original booking). Valerie was our Cpt for the day along with Toby. Both were so friendly and helpful, and I have to say they know how to promote their services. It's no wonder they're a top, if not THE top, scuba dive shop in business today. My wife and I boated out to Molokini for our first morning dive and then over to 5 caves (inner) for the second dive. Valerie was kind enough to chase a few whales in the distance for everyone onboard to enjoy seeing. While diving, the humpbacks were singing away and it made our dives that much more memorable. While the state of the art gear in like-new condition certainly contributes to a memorable outing on a fast and efficient dive boat these folks have it dialed in when it comes to making each outing a great time. I especially enjoy picking Tobys' brain after each dive to discuss the undersea life we've seen.
